Pax Dei finally has a date for its next alpha test, and it will be a little later than originally intended. Mainframe Industries will hold the test in April, explaining that they needed time for additional work to implement key features first.
The Wilderness Alpha opens April 23rd and will last a week. They are planning to invite at least 100,000 players, with everyone who participated in the first alpha test also invited back.
In a post on the official Discord, the team explained the extra few weeks they needed. This delay means even more features than they had originally planned:
“Some of the critical features we wanted to test during the second Alpha ended up being more challenging to implement than expected…. Meanwhile, other team members have been working on new features and content not initially planned for Alpha 2, prompting us to expand the scope.”
This much bigger test will also involve multiple copies of the world in two different regions to test Mainframe’s infrastructure. As for what awaits, gear and consumables get an overhaul with all new stats and hundreds of items to mix and match for greater flexibility in building your own role and tailoring it to your playstyle. If you leave home without a party and properly geared up, you may have some real challenges ahead with the denizens of the world. Expect new spells, combat abilities, and even more weapon types. This alpha will also introduce the first iteration of PvP to Pax Dei in the Lyonesse province.
Of course, if you want to spend time building and crafting, there are new crafting stations, recipes and ingredients.
All invites will go out at one time, so you'll have to sign up by April 15th if you're interested in the test. Your chances at an invite go up if you link your Discord. This test won't be under NDA so you'll be free to share all screenshots, videos, and details about the play experience as well.
With Pax Dei aiming for a spring Early Access, this test will be one of the opportunities to see just what the team is adding to their sandbox.
