Mainframe Industries, the studio behind Pax Dei, announced today that it would be laying off over a quarter of its staff, from 60 people to 43.
“Though incredibly painful, this is necessary to secure the future of our studio and ensure the continued development of Pax Dei,” the accompanying statement posted on official channels read, continuing on to say that the studio “is doing everything possible to support those affected during this transition.”
Mainframe also clarifies that this will likely impact release times for updates, including several more weeks for their recently-announced Verse #3. Normally the team puts out sizable content and balance updates every month or two, and this next one is supposedly large enough to warrant a full server reset.
“We believe that, with more time, careful scoping and your continued support, we can still launch our MMO later this year, with the features it needs to succeed,” the statement says.
Pax Dei’s ongoing Early Access phase started in June 2024 and was expected to go on until this summer.
