Pax Dei is changing a whole host of features in the next game, including combat. The main change is that player characters will now face a target depending on where you’re looking, with responsiveness also improved throughout the game.

Players can now interrupt their own melee attacks by taking other actions such as spellcasting and jumping. Hit detection has also been improved, meaning that attacking animals and other enemies will feel easier, and it’ll actually feel like you’ve hit them.

There’s also a whole host of new animations for spellcasting and for enemies, meaning that everything should run a whole lot smoother than it previously has.

However, that’s not all. The developers of Pax Dei, Mainframe Industries, are also looking ahead to the future, with the patch notes stating that:

“These changes are just the beginning - as you can see, we read your feedback, and we’ve made changes with your thoughts in mind, as well as our own experience and vision for the game. The next content update focuses on making combat feel more dynamic and responsive, but there’s much more to come, As we continue to improve Pax Dei, we’ll work on role identity, balancing all spells, and making gear choices feel more impactful, especially when playing in groups.”

Pax Dei went into early access on June 18th, 2024, and has made some great strides as they push towards a June 2025 release window.
