Pax Dei is preparing us all for next month’s Wilderness Alpha, with a new preview of Lyonesse, the PvP zone coming in the alpha test, along with details on PvP in Pax Dei in general.

When it comes to PvP, it will play a central role in this next alpha, particularly in the introduction of Lyonesse, a new province where there’s plenty of opportunity, but also plenty of danger. This open PvP province is one place you can’t build homes in Pax Dei, given the nature of the resource-rich lands. There is the highest density of pure iron nodes in the game world here, so of course, let the competition begin.

Enter the new province and you will be automatically flagged for PVP. You'll have to be careful if you are hunting resources and exploring out there. In Pax Dei, PVP is intended to be “a faster but more perilous shortcut to success”. The zone is smaller, 4km squared in total, to create more opportunities for conflict. If you're up for the challenge, of course. since if you get killed in this zone, someone can loot your corpse and make off with all the results of your hard work.

In addition to some screenshots to whet our appetites for Lyonesse, Mainframe has released another new video with community creator Eltarii and devs Petur and Sulka, this time on PvP. They start with basic questions like gear, if you're going to need to gear up differently if you are playing PVE content or PVP, and how PVP will work. Of course, one of the key advantages from the video is that you can see what the PvP combat looks like, but the devs are informative in breaking down the basics and beyond.

Mainframe wants everyone to know that currently, combat, and PvP, are in a more or less basic form. So when the alpha opens, what people will get to try is the foundation that they’re building upon. In the video, they also touch on the fact PvP won’t have any context in alpha, but stay tuned and focus on how it plays for now. They’re not giving everything away just yet.

Another reason why they’ll be wanting feedback on this and on PvP zones in general. In the PvP preview announcement on Discord, they also ask for balance impressions on whether there's enough resources, whether there should be more, and the potential interdependence between PVP players and those who are more likely to spend their days crafting and gathering.

The Pax Dei Wilderness Alpha is expected to have more than 100k invitees, so there should be plenty of of competition in Lyonesse for those who are really looking forward to the challenge.
