In what appears to be one of the first integrations of its kind, Pax Dei announced that it will start integrating Discord as the official platform for its in-game chat. The new systems will allow players to chat with broader strokes, create friends lists, and even talk out of the game, which is currently in its Early Access phase.
“We’re very excited about this collaboration and the opportunity to open a fresh approach to in-game discussions and socializing, allowing you to connect more seamlessly with your friends, clanmates, and fellow adventurers,” the announcement reads. It also claims that this is one of the first Discord partnerships of its kind.
The Discord integration appears to allow Pax Dei to get some much-requested features. For instance, there’ll be friends lists, which in turn help players to see who’s online, as well as Zone-wide chats and block and mute lists. Players will also be able to talk to their Pax Dei friends out of the game, displaying both the character name and Discord name to those friends.
Soon, there’ll be more features introduced into the Discord chat integration system, including finding friends’ locations (assumingly via Activities), in- and out-of-game clan chat and announcements, and official voice chat down the line.
Discord linking and integration with your own account is entirely optional. The team says that without account integration, “the chat system will then just behave as you’d expect and operate solely within the confines of your game.”
The patch to integrate the Discord-powered chat goes live this Wednesday, November 20.
