Pax Dei Devs Fix Some Of Its Early Access Launch Issues And Showcase Just How They Approached Launch Day

A Peek In The War Room

Pax Dei's early access launch was a bit mixed, with server issues plaguing players throughout the first day of Mainframe's MMO. The developers have addressed some of the issues, as well as a massive post explaining how they fixed them.

Launching into early access yesterday, Pax Dei had the typical issues most live service games exhibit out of the gates. While servers were largely smooth to join, the experience on some servers, especially the US East worlds, was less than stellar.

Players (myself included) had issues getting into crafting homesteads since the build queue on the server was hours behind. This meant that it would take hours for the server to finally recognize a crafting station, wall or whatever was placed. In our clan, we would have almost entire structures just appear at times.

This problem, among a few other major ones, was identified by the Pax Dei developers yesterday, and it was addressed in a hotfix last night. Today, the team took to Discord to talk about some of the issues they've overcome. In addition to the issues with placing crafting or building pieces, there were many complaints across the board of rubber banding and lag across servers, as well as recipe unlocks being delayed. These issues have largely been fixed according to the Mainframe devs, though in terms of the rubber banding, the developers state they are "monitoring the situation" to ensure what they have in place is a permanent fix.

Not everything has been fixed as of the announcement this morning, including issues where players can't log in, as well as invites to parties or clans being broken for some.

Interestingly, the Pax Dei developers detailed just how they tackled the day one issues with a "war room" style post to the official Discord. The devs explained their process, how the day progressed from the earliest issues to Discord reports from players as they descended onto Pax Dei's servers. It's an interesting look into the operations on launch day, and worth a read.

Day two seems to have progressed a bit smoother, though Steam reviews remain mixed since launch, with players taking issue with the amount of content on offer in the MMO to start, stating that the game just isn't worth the asking price just yet, especially the $100 version. However, there are plenty of reviews enjoying the MMO, stating that it was "exactly" what many were expecting after playing in the recent alphas. Either way, it'll be interesting to see how it progresses.
