Path of Exile's Scourge expansion has been out on PC for several days now, and will hit consoles this Wednesday. On PC, the release hit high numbers for Path of Exile, hitting 254,570 concurrent players at peak, a number that is 96% of their all-time high. Along with initial feedback and prepping for console release, the Path of Exile team also has some new events coming.

With Scourge's release, there were some of the typical bumps along the way, and the Grinding Gear team had to disable item linking until a patch was released just today. Item linking was creating an issue with the server, causing crashes, so initially chat was disabled temporarily, then restored, but item linking was turned off until today. The team is keeping any eye on the rest of the performance data from the PC launch and is already noting that there are some balance changes and other fixes in progress.

One issue that players cite was that the transformation bar on Scourged items wasn't visible enough and required a mouse over to check, so this will change. The Blood Crucible may also need some changes to make its status more noticeable, so expect some sort of adjustment to be clearer when it's full. Wouldn't want to miss taking advantage of all that Scourged blood when you've got slaying to do.

Console release is set for Wednesday, October 27th at 7pm Eastern, with a downtime starting  around 3pm Eastern.

On Thursday, the Path of Exile Twitch channel hosts a Twitch Rivals Path of Exile Royale tournament. Participants will compete alone this time but if they survive into the late match, there will be a boss fight to tackle. There's a $30,000 pot on the line too, and Twitch Drops turned on for viewers.

For more, see the event post on the Path of Exile site.
