Path of Exile Shares Plan for Harvest Crafting

Grinding Gear Games, the developers behind Path of Exile, have shared their planes for Harvest Crafting in a new manifesto.

They begin by stating that they’re going to make more changes to Harvest Crafting with 3.14.0 because of concerns of how “deterministic” some crafts are. Plus, they’re concerned with how easily people can craft items which are almost perfect.

To that end the team discusses their initial plan with Harvest Crafting and how they ingested it into the core game in 3.13. Later analysis of this integration showed that players felt pretty overwhelmed with the multitude of crafting options available. They also felt frustrated that the only way to get the “best” items was to effectively joining a trading Discord.

To that end, the team outlined several changes in 3.14. Some of these changes include how only some seeds will give an instance of that seed’s craft. Also, they touched on mods,

  • Crafts that add mods of specific types (like Physical Modifiers, for example) to items can now only be applied to non-influenced items, except for the existing mod that applies an influenced mod to an influenced item.
  • The chance of encountering a portal to the Sacred Grove in a map has been increased by 60%.

Finally, the Heart of Grove encounter will now be a map fragment which only sometime provide Tier 4 Harvest boss drops.
