The latest Path of Exile expansion, Settlers of Kalguur, launched for players on all PC and console platforms today. This update and League introduces new non-combat systems to engage in during the mid- to late-game.
A major addition is Kingsmarch, where you’ll have to find the perfect workers to help build your town, with the ability to create trade routes and have your traders haggle for rewards. Within the town, you can also have workers go off and fight around maps for resources. Along the way, you’ll have to make decisions to defend it against invaders—or persuade them off with a price. Plus, there’s mining and processing; once enemies defending mines are defeated, the resources can be taken and brought for processing.
The update brings a Currency Trade Market, described as a system that “allows you to asynchronously buy and sell currency and most other stackable items with other players” through an NPC named Faustus. The trades are automated, so long as they match your requirements—or are better.
Settlers of Kalguur introduces the new Warden Ascendancy, which replaces the Raider Ascendancy, lifting from the Raider’s skill set by focusing on Elemental-centered Affliction. It also utilizes Tinctures, which can supposedly be found throughout the game. The Gladiator is also receiving a massive overhaul, with paths leading to new “Retaliation” skills.
There’s also a ton of endgame and combat balances and improvements, plus fixes for players on consoles. If you’re interested in how the launch is doing, devs are keeping players updated on an official thread. Plus, there’s an official FAQ with a ton of common community questions.
