With Path of Exile 2 comes a slew of cool new combat systems and perks, but one may literally take everyone for a ride: at a PoE2 preview event, Grinding Gear Games unveiled a new mount system.
When showcased during a live demo, the mount was summoned via a spell slot, part of the new spell/ability system debuting in PoE2. More importantly, as it ran around, the Ranger character was able to use its arrow abilities—with zero movement speed changes. This is huge for players who want to try this or similar classes, as without a mount, attacks invoke a movement penalty that can make working through big crowds rough.
If you want to get off the mount to use other abilities—or just want to dismount in style—the Ranger’s Escape abilities, and anything similar, will also let you do a little flip off the mount.
Game director Jonathan Rogers described mounts as “hot off the presses,” which we can only assume means they had just finished working on them in any kind of playable form. Therefore, sadly, for us at the event and the players attending PAX, this wasn't available to play in demos.
However, it’s still definitely something to look forward to when Path of Exile 2 launches eventually.
