The wait almost seemed over for the Path of Exile 2 beta, but unfortunately it may need to wait a little bit longer. At a preview event earlier this week for the upcoming sequel, Game Director Jonathan Rogers announced that the beta will be pushed back—but they’re still hoping to get it out sooner than later.
“While I think that we will be able to get the game's content ready in time, we sort of underestimated how long it would take to get the gameplay polished to a standard that we're actually happy with,” Rogers explained. “When we actually come to do all this content, it turns out that getting it actually to the point where we're ready for someone to actually play it is a little bit harder than we expected.”

Rogers estimates that instead, the beta will be released towards the end of the calendar year. In order to ensure a playable quality, he said “we're actually not going to move any of our internal deadlines,” and instead opt to share the beta with the public at a later date.
The original Path of Exile 2 beta was meant for release on June 7th. Still, there’ll be a playable public demo build at PAX East this weekend.
