The patch notes give players a more indepth look at what to expect with next week's patch, including listing the new main scenario quests to expect with Death Unto Dawn. The patch notes also list the new trial being added, The Cloud Deck, as well as the new continuation of the YoRHa Neir-flavored cross over event quests. New furninshing for houses in FFXIV are also being added with this patch, giving home decorators more ideas to make their homes the best in the neighborhood.

Patch 5.5 also coincides with the launch of Final Fantsy 14 on PS5 in Open Beta. The team has detailed how players can jump into the updated version and upgrade from their existing PlayStation 4 versions. The PlayStation 5 version brings improved loading times, 4K resolution and higher framerates over the PS4 counterpart.
