Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen now has its Unity 6 upgrade. After being delayed twice, the patch is live, with the engine upgrade and a bunch of improvements. There are also some lingering issues the Visionary Realms team is warning about and are working to fix.
The Unity engine upgrade is here, so that is the first thing to know about this update. It's a significant upgrade overall, so the team also wants to know if anything doesn't look right or doesn't play right. The team is also warning that there might be some difficulty with this update and there are some lingering issues.
Expect better cave lighting, particularly when you transition from inside to the outside areas, and you should also be able to see outside light when you are standing inside a cave. For most people, they should notice performance improvement. The game also now takes up half the size it used to on disk, and there are reductions in overall memory and vram use..
Go ahead and step into a dungeon, because you should also notice better performance in particular there.
While the Unity 6 upgrade is offering overall improvements, sunlight and shadows may be degraded in some areas after the update. Visionary Realms knows this, so they are working with the Unity team to get this sorted out.
Otherwise, you should enjoy the improvements if you are playing the Early Access build.
The patch does more than just upgrade the engine. Some of the fixes are small but very useful like letting you know you can't add an ability to a full hot bar, targeting improvements, new graphics options, and even the addition of breath visual effects when you're in cold environments. If someone's bothering you in chat, now you have the /ignore command in place. Several UI changes will make your window positions, keybinds, and macros tied to individual characters so you Won't have to reset them if you want to switch to an alt.
You can read the full patch notes over on the Pantheon Discord, and of course, if you jump in the game, you should also notice some real differences.
