Try to keep it true to the spirit of the game

Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen Early Access is coming on Friday, and the team is sharing naming policies and reminders for this next stage of development.

There are some rules to remember when it comes to naming characters. Visionary Realms shared an update via the Pantheon Discord with full details. The policy is not intended to be exhaustive, it's more about the general rules and the spirit of what naming should be like for characters, guilds, pets, or anything else that you are allowed to change or name.

“As Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen is largely a work incorporating the high fantasy genre, names should attempt to align to spirit of the game,” the update says. There are a few basic things that should be obvious, such as not using profane words, racist or sexist language, threatening terms, or anything that is trying to get around or be a euphemism or a homonym of any of those things.

You're also not supposed to infringe on anyone's trademark, so if you were looking to run around with a character named Batman, you should get more creative. “Examples would be popular fantasy characters, sports teams, brand names, celebrities, politicians or your 9th grade English teacher that you’ve been wanting to doxx for 11 years. For clarification a character named Brady wouldn’t necessarily violate the policy, but one named Tombrady D’Goat would.”

There are  a number of other things that they're not going to allow, including drug references, any names that Visionary Realms has used in Pantheon’s lore, or anything that looks like you’re trying to impersonate devs.

For those who can't think of a name that isn't taken, note that you also can't use numbers or special characters, so you'll have to get creative. If you're interested in a classic style fantasy MMORPG, you've probably been here before. As the team says,

“Put on your plus to Int gear and find a way to make it fit, perhaps with creative spelling, an interesting backstory or a slight tweak”.
