Are you Trading a Mystery Gift with a friend in Palia? Well the team at Singularity 6 has clarified its policy regarding Mystery Gifts being akin to real-money trading (RMT), and how they handle these trades won't be a mystery anymore.
Addressing community concerns in a recent Discord announcement, the developers emphasized that trading in-game items specifically for Mystery Gifts falls under RMT, which is strictly prohibited according to their Terms of Service (TOS). To ensure clarity among players, an official in-game announcement will precede the next patch update. That's not to say that trading Mystery Outfit Gifts, which are cosmetics that you purchase on Palia's premium store to give to freinds, will be completely bannable. Obviously the purpose of said gifts is to trade them with your friends, but this system can also be abused and run the risk of scams.
The team reassured players that they will only take disciplinary action based on solid evidence to avoid punishing genuine gift exchanges between friends. While they enforce these rules within official platforms, external communities remain outside their jurisdiction.
They have encouraged players to report suspected violations through the official support site if they find people abusing the system. How this will all shake out in practice, we have yet to see as the enactment of this policy is pending, but we will keep Palia players posted on the new policy and how the community handles the more direct policing of Mystery Gifts.
