The Palia team is back with its first dev update of 2024, announcing new content on the way, a new event, and an updated content patch cadence.
Palia went into open beta five months ago and hit the Nintendo Switch last month as well. During that time, the team has put out nine patches and more than 15 hotfixes. Citing “what it takes for a dev team to commit to such a schedule”, they’ve announced a move to aim for one major content patch per month and room for smaller updates in between, with fixes when the need arises.
In the announcement, they clarify that the amount of content isn’t going to be less, they’re just scheduling it a bit differently to both release more polished updates and to give the team some breathing room. They also reiterated their commitment to listening to community feedback, citing a few topics like economy balance, player progression flow, and shared resource nodes as things they’ll be looking at.
As for what Singularity 6 is planning for the next major patch (0.176), which should be out in late January or early February, they did leave a few teases:
- Celebrate the return of Maji Market — now even bigger and better!
- Looks like a bit of romance isn’t off the books for our newest villager, Subira…
- Freshen up your home’s exterior with some new outdoor-focused options!
A new event is also on the way: Luna New Year. This is where Maji Market will return, to celebrate this holiday, one where “Majiri, Grimalkin, Galdur, and humans alike all celebrate Luna New Year as we’re all united under the watch of Palia’s two moons, one of them being Luna”. There will be new activities in the market, including a new hotpot mini game inspired by Mahjong. With a market and a new event, there will also be new fireworks, foods, and furnishing items. Expect a full devblog on the Luna New Year event soon.
