There’s a new playtest for Over The Top: WWI, a new title from the studio behind the Mount & Blade: Warband Napoleonic Wars expansion, Flying Squirrel Entertainment.

Over The Top: WWI Is designed around large-scale combat and features 100v100 multiplayer battles set in the fields of World War 1. sou get to fight this war as the Central Powers or as the Triple Entente. There’s also single-player campaign content in the game, in case you’re not in the mood to head into massive battles. Still, the 200-player battles are an essential part of multiplayer mode.

Those 200 competitors can be players, bots, or a combination, and there are nine maps, including those inspired by real-world locations or randomly generated. there's also an in-game map editor. Fight on the battlefields in destructible, realistic World War I environments. “Instant Battle” mode lets a solo player jump right into the massive battlefield with bots.

The environments are destructible, so as you play in these big battles check out what's around you because you can destroy bridges, knock down some trees, blow up some fences, destroy your enemy fortifications, and whatever else you think might be good strategy. The destructible environments are accompanied by terrain you can shape. sometimes with an artillery shell, and sometimes by using shovels and pickaxe to dig trenches. It's up to you.

The game will feature a number of weapons, over 50 planned, along with six types of armored vehicles and 10 different artillery pieces. of course in a giant war game like this there will be armored vehicles, tanks, and other options directly inspired by historical vehicles like the Mark IV and Ehrhardt E-V/4 Straßenpanzerwagen.

The playtest started yesterday and runs through December 9th at 4:00 a.m. Eastern / 10:00 a.m. CET. If you're interested, you can head to the official Steam page and get started.
