Upcoming Wuxia-inspired open-world RPG adventure title Where Winds Meet is getting a North American closed beta this month.
Where Winds Meet is an open world fantasy adventure with deep inspirations from Chinese history and legends and the Wuxia martial arts style. One of the standout features is the beautiful visuals of the game, and Wuxia is acrobatic and graceful.
Yet, it’s a martial art and is also strategic. This promising game could make some martial arts gaming fantasies come to life. In a press release announcing the beta, the team notes that some styles under the umbrella, like Tai Chi, work by using techniques to redirect your enemy’s force in order to defeat them in a softer way. This is not the only move you'll have a chance to learn, and the overall skills you learn will give you options in different environments..In another example, you can use the force of a waterfall to break through a wall.
Other things you might do is to gather leaves from the ground to unleash power and find other opportunities to use your enemy's force against them or to take advantage by finding a way to use their weapons against them. Maybe your enemy is overshooting or moving forcefully in one direction, that might be your opening. Learn different weapons in your progression to master Chinese martial arts in Wuxia combat. Weapons will include longswords, a broadsword, spears, bows, and even fans.
Since this is an adventure RPG with an open world, you'll get to explore, using your skills to make it through the world. There will be other things to discover and to do, including minigames, playing Chinese chess, learning and to play traditional musical instruments, and other content outside of combat.
Developer Everstone Studio announced the new test, which is the first major outreach by the team in North America. The test itself will be open to players in the US and Canada and start on April 19th. Signups for Where Winds Meet are open now through April 18th.
