Open-world Wuxia action adventure RPG Where Winds Meet will be released on PlayStation 5 in addition to the previously-announced PC release. The announcement came at yesterday’s State of Play, along with a new trailer.

You play as a young sword master and you set up your character to go on an adventure that blends RPG, Eastern legends, martial arts combat skills, and a narrative within an open world. Create a male or female character, and begin to explore not only the world, but your own identity.

The game is developed by Everstone Studio and published by NetEase. With Wuxia at the base of its combat skills and weapons, choose from different weapons and skills to pick your build.  You can use weapons and mix it up with this graceful martial art. Have your enemy and freeze them, or even disarm them and counter-attack.

Weapons include a spear, a sword, twin blades, a glaive, or a bow if you prefer to play a ranged character. Brand new trailer released at the presentation unveiled another new weapon:  an umbrella. Using an umbrella, you can defend against attacks but you can also use it to strike. The trailer shows this off in the treetops, emphasizing the fantastic nature of the combat style.

The new trailer also showed off a number of bosses,  varied scenery, and other challenges as you engage with the narrative, investigate your own identity, and enjoy the cinematic style of the open world to explore. The trailer shows off a bamboo forest, weather effects and lighting, and intricate environmental details on PlayStation 5 that we can also expect on PC.

Drawing from legends and the graceful Wuxia films and stories, the trailer also shows that people are not always who they seem. One of the bosses we see is the River God, who is a gang leader that pretends to be a fish seller.

Where Winds Meet got a PC closed beta recently, and now a console announcement, so a release window shouldn’t be too far away.
