The open-world RPG set in the wizarding world of Harry Potter, Hogwarts Legacy, is getting one of its first looks at gameplay this week. Set for March 17th on a special PlayStation State of Play, Warner Bros and Avalanche are showcasing the upcoming game set in the 1800s.

Hogwarts Legacy will set players at the eponymous school of witchcraft and wizardry in the 1800s, well before the events of the main Harry Potter novels. Currently not much is known about exactly what you'll do in the RPG, but we do know that you'll be able to travel to iconic locations such as the Forbidden Forest, master spells, and other classes typically taken at Hogwarts, and much more.

Having been delayed into 2022, Avalanche is ready to pull the veil back a bit on the RPG with its first real look at extended gameplay. A special edition of Sony's PlayStation State of Game, Hogwarts Legacy will get 14 minutes of gameplay on PS5, as well as more information from the team at Avalanche.

Via the PlayStation Blog:

"Since we first revealed Hogwarts Legacy, the trailer has been viewed over 28 million times on the PlayStation YouTube channel. We promised to share more this year, and we’re finally ready to deliver on that promise.

The show will run for about 20 minutes, featuring over 14 minutes of Hogwarts Legacy gameplay captured on PS5, and concluding with some insight from a few members of the team at Avalanche Software who are bringing the Wizarding World to life."

Hogwarts Legacy's State of Play will take place on March 17th at 2pm PDT/5pm EDT on the official PlayStation YouTube and Twitch channels. As of now, Hogwarts Legacy still seems primed to release sometime this year, though we'll learn more during this week's show.
