Black Desert Online is a meaty game, with tons of systems and features overlapping each other across its game world. One system, though, has been only available to one class in the MMO. Well, that has finally changed.
Until now, the Shai class was the only one able to take part in Black Desert's music system, which allows players to, well, play instruments within the game world. This system isn't new to MMORPGs, as multiple games have it as part of their game worlds, and in some it's sprouted entire player-created concerts such as LotRO's annual Weatherstock.
Now, players, regardless of class, can pick up an instrument and play along with the Shai characters, bringing the music system to the masses. Additionally, Black Desert Online players now have five new instruments to choose from, including a new three types of electric guitar, a clarinet and a French horn dubbed the "Florchestra Horn.'
"We've also added 5 new instruments to further bolster the musical arsenal available in Black Desert. These include the "Florchestra Horn," a brass instrument for brilliant, grandiose pieces, the "Florchestra Clarinet," a woodwind instrument for expressing softer tones, and 3 types of "Marni's Electric Guitar," instruments which offer modern sounds with varying effectors. Just as the "Marnian" comes in several different shapes and tones, Marni's Electric Guitar comes in three different flavors as well - "Silver Wave," for a clear, effector-less sound, "Highway," for a refreshing and high-paced drive effector, and "Hexe Glam," for a heavier, more-filling distortion effector."
Players can take part in the "Let's Not Shy Away From Making Music" questline to start their musical careers and nab instruments from various shops around the world. Instruments can be earned through quest from the wandering musician Artina, crafted using materials from Marni's shop, or purchased from Artina's shop outright.
The Black Desert team released a new video showcasing what's new this month in Black Desert. There are multiple new updates, including the Blackstar Weapon Glow, Music Album updates, and more. Of course, the video highlights J's Hammer of Precision, which turned out not to be an April Fool's Joke afterall.
