Once Human has had a stellar year so far for an MMO that feels like it has largely gone under the radar. The team at Starry Studio recently posted a list of player accounts that have been banned, with nearly 700 players being permanently banned for utilizing hacking software. The team also provided details on how players can report bots in the event they encounter one.
Starry Studio has been working tirelessly to get the game in order before the eventual mobile platform rollout later this year. Since the game launched on PC, the team has dealt with a Terms of Service (ToS) scandal, some issues with stability, a patch that broke more than it fixed, and apparently a host of bots. The developers have been addressing these issues as they arise but with the purported release of Once Human on mobile slated for September 26th, per the iOS Store’s expected release date, there’s a lot to work on before the next influx of players in this cross-platform game.
Luckily for the devs, the issues haven’t slowed the community down too much. After exactly a month since the release of the game, Once Human has bucked the trend of a huge first month drop off, as it is still in the top 10 of games played on Steam, with average daily player numbers hitting over 150 thousand players, and an all-time peak of 231 thousand players. In addition to that, the game Is sporting a very health 72% ‘mostly positive’ rating on steam, which is rather surprising given that the game went through some initial review bombing stemming from a report about a poorly worded terms of service snafu.
As the team ramps up fixing issues ahead of mobile, curious gamers looking for a new supernatural challenge may want to jump in now, as mobile releases often result in a large influx in gamers – and that includes population challenges. Once Human allows players to build their own bases out in the world, and while we’re not certain on whether mobile players will hop into current servers, or have their own, you may run the risk of losing out when the next wave of players jumps in, so there’s no better time to secure your plot than right now.
