Once Human Cancels In-App Purchase Beta After Feedback on 'Unfair' Head Start for Testers

Once Human has canceled its previously-announced in-app purchases test, citing feedback and criticism over fairness.

It was originally said to begin on June 25th and would last all the way up until the July 9th launch. Those who applied to the test and were accepted would have kept their progress through the launch. This meant that only those who participated in the test would basically get access to a soft early access. Citing fairness, the team received a bunch of feedback on this matter, and they've announced that they decided to cancel the in-game purchase test.

On the Once Human social accounts, they shared the cancellation notice with their response to the feedback they had received.

“Attention Metas!

After carefully considering your feedback, we've made the decision to call off the in-game purchase test to ensure a fair playing field for all. Your voices matter greatly, and we want to launch with everyone on equal footing.

The game will see everyone on July 9th. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us!”

With launch set for July 9th, looks like everyone will all get started on a level playing field. In an extended statement on the game’s official Discord, they elaborated more on the nature of feedback and what the lack of a closed beta test will mean for the system. The team will be conducting the in-game purchase system internally instead of a test.

They also acknowledged that some people were excited to be able to get an early shot at the game and to participate in helping the team polish off their system. They apologized to that part of the community too, and reiterated that they welcome feedback.

This time, they did certainly prove they were listening.
