Once Human, the free new post-apocalyptic supernatural and sci-fi horror survival multiplayer game, announced that both controller support and DirectX 12 will be available this August. The announcements were made by Starry Studio on Saturday on social media accounts.
Controller support has been a massive demand by players since launch, especially given the broad push for controller support across many games. It’s a crafting-survival game involving a lot of movement and shooting, after all, and many players are more comfortable with it for quick movement and flexibility, with more ergonomic comfort (especially for players who need to mix it up after being on mouse and keyboard too long).
We have two pieces of good news for all Metas today. The first good news is: Once Human will support controller play in August! Please stay tuned for more updates!??Free Download Now!?? Official Website: https://t.co/KA8eZj0fch Steam: https://t.co/NMc9DecwPwEpic Games… pic.twitter.com/r0yTN4CrtR

Meanwhile, DirectX 12 is often a hit or miss situation for players. If it works for those who use it, it offers faster rendering and better performance, as it requires less API “language” to run. However, if it doesn’t work, as is often the case for newer software versions (like even-numbered Windows versions), it can be janky. Some players may prefer the option if they’re able get that better performance.
There's no specific date for these updates, but August is in literally less than two weeks, so it's not that much of a wait regardless.
The free-to-play Once Human launched earlier this month, and it seems to be doing quite well despite criticisms of unutilized ToS claims to personal information and the population uptick packing servers to their limits.
