The latest Camelot Unchained newsletter has been delivered to our inbox and is it ever a doozy! News updates span a number of topics including the community, the art department, a treatise on in-studio communication and much more. The most compelling portion of the update is the State of the Build section penned by Brittany Aubert.
Aubert touches on the biggest features the team has worked on over the past couple months:
- Client Stability - the issue was a pesky one, particularly with regard to crashes. After fixing the most obvious issues, the team took a step back to rework the way renderables in any given scene are managed
- Bot Battles Return to help stress test servers and how performance plays out. Bots have been updated to shoot arrows, use abilities and utilize inventories. The team managed to get 2,100 bots working simultaneously at one time!
- Inventory UI - the paper doll system and equipping items interfaces have been reworked with more information about what is being carried, adding filters to sort items, more clear presentation of where items will be equipped and so forth.
- Siege Engines - targeting by players will now perform more like using an ability. In addition, the team is working on how far siege engines shoot and so forth. The team is currently working to answer various questions about the physics of the player and the siege engine working together before making another pass.
- Fireworks -- be cause games are FUN!
