Varlamore is set to expand in Old School RuneScape, and after hinting at some of what was on the way, the team has put a new group boss proposal to the community for input. And there’s a Q&A today with the team.
The next challenge could be a new group boss called the Hueycoatl. This boss is not just going to be powerful, involve outside help, and be a world boss spawn and not instanced, there will also be some options suitable for solo players too. The group encounter is designed for those with 90+ combat level, and is a boss that is designed to reward groups. The team cited bosses like Nex and Scurrius as examples they’re taking inspiration from. So while there will be options for solo players, the recommended group is 3-8 players.
As for the Hueycoatl itself, the team described it this way:“A great and terrible serpent - lies sleeping, coiled around the heart of the mountain. They say its scales are strong as rock, and that it sleeps upon a bed of gold. They say that the dwarves who first encountered this monster were rewarded with riches beyond their wildest dreams. They say that when the Hueycoatl wakes anew, it will be angry enough to tear through stone.”
That outside help? Dwarves. Since this Beast is awakening, the dwarves are looking to fight back and they are asking for help with this challenging beast. In the fight, you'll be accompanied by dwarves, including a priest to help out. The creature is so big that parts of it are sticking out from caves all over the mountain and you'll have to go to exposed parts in order to attack on your way to climbing to the top of the mountain for the final part of the battle.
The team isn't giving everything away, but you'll have to damage those body parts to make your way to the summit and then you'll have to face a monster that is shielding itself with this powerful tail.
After one group has defeated the beast, it will eventually spawn again. This fight will also be one of the first that will be covered under the Project Rebalance changes.
A special Q&A is happening today over on Twitch, and will be available as VOD later.
