Fresh off the news that Jagex, the company behind RuneScape was bought by The Carlyle Group, the Old School variant of the MMORPG is coming to Steam this year. The Steam version of Old School RuneScape is planned for a February 24th release on the platform.
Announced via press release (as well as a fancy new Steam page), Old School RuneScape comes to Steam on February 24th. This move also comes after RuneScape's successful launch in October on Steam.
Via the Steam post:
"By now you'll have heard about us talk plenty about our simple-yet-lofty goal of taking Old School Everywhere, and today we're delighted to announce the next big step - Old School RuneScape is coming to Steam on February 24th, 2021! Whether you are a past, present or future explorer of the magical world of Gielinor, we're excited to bring?one of the world’s largest MMORPGs to Steam!"
Players eager to try the new Steam client can link their account with an existing Old School account, so you needn't start fresh with a new account when playing on the new platform. Steam's version of OS RuneScape will also include the normal Steam goodies, such as Steam Achievements, Badges. Emoticons and more.
Earlier this week it was announced that Jagex was bought by global investment firm The Carlyle Group. The news comes after speculation for years as to who exactly owns Jagex, with the company disputing Plutos Sama's claims of owning the MMO developer.
