Today, Old School RuneScape’s update includes several hotfixes to Nex loot, adding achievements, and announced progress towards the upcoming Android open beta.
When Nex was released, there were some fixes implemented shortly afterward in the name of balance and fixing a bug where she was unable to be killed (oops). In the weeks since, many have taken on the new challenge and fought her, but now the team wanted to sweeten things a bit with a new series of achievements all about Nex. You might earn an Elite tier achievement for killing Nex once, or if you manage things like killing her without anyone dying, without taking any damage from certain attacks, or with only two or three players, or while a player is coughing. There’s even one for killing her 100 times.
Nex also got a few hotfixes mostly about loot. Issues fixed include crashes caused by the system for item drops using too much code, the 100,000 GP fee not transferring to a Loot Key as expected, and Loot Keys being inadvertently deleted if a player with a full inventory attempted to pick one up in a PvP world.
Old School RuneScape is also making progress towards expanding its reach on mobile with the Android client open beta. This beta will begin on February 28th and the team needs testers to help determine where things go next. Some of the features in the Android client will be on mobile for the first time. These include fishing spot indicators, Buff Bars, chat improvements, and Entity highlights for NPCs. These and more features will be available, along with some changes released this week.
When the open beta is set to begin, the team plans to have a post with both how-tos and a list of known issues. As for testing the client, the known issues post will also include space for feedback too.
