More fun, improved experience

Old School RuneScape has reintroduced Slayer Partners after four years. The team  has revealed their thinking in bringing  the feature back, along with the improvements they made in order to try and avoid the problems that led to their removal in the first place.

Slayer Partners was a feature that let you team up with someone and invite them to grind out Slayer tasks with you. Teaming up and sharing the load was helpful since partnering up opened up new opportunities.  Unfortunately, some people really liked breaking the rules and things were too unbalanced, so they removed the feature itself. Until now.

In bringing it back, they saw the opportunity to build upon and improve how things worked, as well as reducing those issues, all while tuning up the fun. You still have to find a partner, invite them to team up and wait for them to accept. Once partnered,  you can get a task from the Slayer Master. This time around, there's no requirement that one player needs a higher Slayer level than the partner, and you'll only get tasks that you're capable of doing. There are additional safeguards to try and prevent exploitation.

There are other usability changes that even include messages and warnings to make sure you complete things successfully, making sure you and your partner stay close enough together, with a couple of exceptions.

For the vets, the system should feel pretty familiar. The point was not to radically change the feature, but to improve it both to make sure it's less exploitable and more fun. Those little changes like making sure that you only get a task that both of you can complete are thoughtful.

The Old School RuneScape team  knows that the community has wanted this back for a while, and they will be keeping an eye on things just to make sure that some of those old issues don't crop up.
