A new quest is now available in Old School RuneScape. Beneath Cursed Sands has been added as a starter taste and support for the upcoming new raid, Tombs of Amascut.
With the new raid, set for release this summer, described as “our most narrative-driven raid yet”, the quest serves as an introduction to the Kharidian Desert and some narrative of its own. The quest is introduced like this:
“When Sophanem was beset by a series of plagues, the gates to the golden city of Menaphos quickly closed. They've been locked ever since – no one goes in, and no one comes out. There are, however, rumours of strange happenings within the city walls, and stories of Menaphite citizens mysteriously going missing.
Someone needs to investigate, but few are willing to accept the risk. Maisa, a spy from Al Kharid, has grown tired of inaction. She’s determined to solve this mystery – but she can’t do it alone…”
So there’s no shortage of intrigue or work to be done for this Master-level quest. With that level, you’ll have to meet some specific achievement levels to get access, but once you do, you’ll be able to take on the quest for rewards. Those rewards for successful completion include 2 quest points, access to the Tombs of Amascut (when it’s out), and 20,000 Agility XP.
The quest will also let you gain access to two new unique items, the Keris Partisan, and Circlet of Water. The Keris Partisan is an upgrade to the Keris knife acquired in Contact! The upgrade turns it into something like a spear and adds extra damage. You should keep it for the upcoming raid, where there will be another upgrade opportunity. The Circlet of Water is an untradeable helm that uses water runes and acts like a waterskin when worn.
There’s also an update on the inventory system rework issues. Last week, the team attempted to upgrade and modernize the system, but there were multiple major issues. They have been slowly applying fixes as reverting everything to what it was in bulk was “virtually impossible”
