Last year, No Man’s Sky introduced the Worlds update, which added new life, new features, expanded planetary diversity, weather, new lighting, transforming planets, and even some gameplay content. Today, they've unveiled Worlds part 2 with a new trailer and a deep dive.
In Worlds part 2, there will be billions of new solar systems and trillions of new planets. if you are a No Man's Sky player and you thought of ever stopping, you'll never run out of things to do. where the first part of the update offered new lighting and weather systems and new planets, this one will also introduce advanced terrain generation, which will vary the landscapes and offer new unique biomes. you'll also see larger mountains and other characteristics that weren't possible before. The update will also introduce gas giants, which are 10 times bigger than other planets, covered in huge storms around the surface, and with kilometers-deep oceans.
Sean Murray takes us into the details, saying that “it's now so far beyond what we ever thought was possible when we started out,” which also speaks to how well Hello Games turned things around and went beyond multiple times over.
There is better water physics that makes oceans and rain not just realistic, but more interactive. Rain will have effects, so things like ripples underneath when a ship flies past the ocean or even raindrops causing little reactions on a body of water. You will see creatures wading and traveling through water in different ways. Those oceans and a new lighting system are designed to be even more detailed and realistic that the deeper as you go, the darker it will all get. There are creatures down there in those murky depths. The oceans will also reflect the clouds and stars, so you'll probably find some environments and planets that you won't really want to leave because they're beautiful.
Prepare to discover even more new creatures, and the content updates will also include a major new questline and a new expedition that will guide you around and let you explore the new additions and of course, offer rewards to discover. The questline is set to be a gift to those who’ve been around for a while, it seems, as Murray says, “There’s this huge quest that ties together some strands that we’ve been building for years.”
No Man’s Sky is bringing everything to life on an even greater scale than they already had. So if last year's Worlds update blew you away and was beyond what you expected, here’s round two to challenge any remaining limits.
