The Nintendo Switch 2 is releasing on June 5, and will support 4K resolutions when docked. In addition to that, the console is also capable of reaching framerates of up to 120FPS, and supports HDR in both handheld and docked mode.
Two versions are available at launch - one with Mario Kart World bundled for $500 and one without for $450.
The aforementioned Mario Kart World will have multiple different modes, including a brand-new one that allows for free-roam throughout every track in the world. There are also 24 drivers per race, the most in Mario Kart history, allowing chaos to reign. Mario Kart World is a launch title for the Switch 2 and, apparently, has an MSRP of $79.99.
Nintendo didn’t stop there though - a new Donkey Kong game, Donkey Kong: Bananza was also announced, a 3D platformer with terrain deformation. It’s unclear exactly how similar this game is to Super Mario Odyssey, but it looks like the game is taking inspiration from the way that game used different worlds as biomes, allowing for a greater display of environments. Donkey Kong: Bananza launches July 17th, 2025.
Perhaps most excitingly, a brand new FromSoftware game was shown off that looks incredibly similar to Bloodborne but exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2. The Duskbloods is directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, and is due for release in 2026. In it, players play as what seems to be a vampire, and travel through the traditional FromSoftware world of misery and sadness, while defeating massive bosses along the way.
The purpose of the C button on the right Joy-Con 2 was also confirmed. It’s a method of voice chat which allows players to talk to each other through the controller, and which also (with the addition of a Nintendo Switch 2 camera that is purchased separately) allows players to stream their gameplay to each other with themselves superimposed over the footage.
Other games shown off throughout the show included a port of Elden Ring for the Nintendo Switch, a brief snippet of Hollow Knight: Silksong that reconfirmed the game was coming in 2025, a port of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, and Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, among several other titles.
Upgrade paths will also be available for select titles from the original Nintendo Switch, including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. These will be paid, though pricing is currently unknown - select upgrades are available to Nintendo Switch Online users at no extra price, though.
These are just the highlights from the showcase, too - a lot more was shown off, and if you’re really interested, why not take a look at our live blog?
