As announced last week, there are some big changes coming to Nightingale. Inflexion's early access survival crafting game will get a brand new, more structured, progression system, crafting updates, an increase in structure limits, and more.
The update, Realms Rebuilt, is on the way, and in a new devblog, the team details just some of the big things to expect. One thing to know is that in order to make all of these big changes, there will be a server wipe and everyone will have to make new characters. However, there will be a few things you can save and take with you.
One of the things the team found was that many players needed a little more guidance and a way to have more cohesive experiences, so here comes a new progression tree. Instead of the current system, where you unlock recipes by completing quests or buying them from traders, the new system is designed to feel more connected. A new progression tab will be in the Guidebook and it will show you how to progress your tools and equipment.
You will still use Essence to unlock things on the Progression tab, but the way you get more Essence will change. This, too, gets more focused, with an emphasis on completing quests, challenges, and points of interest. More info on this is on the way, but this shift is also to make things feel more connected and to reduce grind. In a related move, the role of Augmentations will also be reworked.
Increased structure limits are finally coming. The system also gets an overhaul, with only two limits, how many individual pieces you have in a structure, and a realm-wide weight limit. The individual piece limit will be more than triple the current limit.
The update will also add a Regency tileset, to take advantage of the new structure system and build limits so you can add a little bit of 18th century Italian inspiration to your realm.
Finally, they revealed some new weapons and magick, in addition to a number of weapons getting tier upgrades that use different models and designs.
Since they do need to wipe player progression, they will have a way to keep your current Respite Realm, save it, and use it in offline mode, at the cost of no future content updates. Collected Twitch Drops will be claimable post-update, and some event items will make it into progression goals.
More info will be on the way next week, with the update itself coming later this summer.
