Nightingale is getting some new features in its latest update, fresh off a successful recent PTR. Expect the introduction of Boss Rush mode, new weapons and upgrades, improvements, and more.
Aaryn Flynn and Neil Thompson initially unveiled the changes in a new Dev Bites video yesterday, with the update happening today. The full patch notes are now out for the update, giving us more insight into what we can expect.
Boss Rush mode is here. This lets you go up against waves of bosses in Nightingale in rapid succession. As long as you keep fighting, they'll keep coming. Each new boss will have a random minor realm card effect applied, making each experience different. Every boss you defeat will make the next one harder. This is really another way of surviving in a survival game and a way to test yourself. Rewards for facing the new Boss Rush mode are tier 6 and tier 6 infusions and new fabled resources.
The sword has finally arrived. Yes, the team has promised a sword and now it's here. Attack in a three-part combo with two slashes and a thrust as a primary, or use your secondary to parry and lunge in a riposte. The update introduces three new magic arrows for bows. They are: Entangle Arrows, which slow your enemies with brambles, Implosion Arrows, which detonate after a time, and Slicing Arrows, which combine dual arrows with a deadly magical garrote. The last new weapon is the Launcher, an alternative option for the slingbow.
One of the improvements in the update is a change so that hunger doesn't kill your characters, but it does leave you more vulnerable to damage. Getting 25% hunger will reduce your maximum health and it will just worsen the closer you get to zero. There's still a deep incentive to go and make sure your characters are fed. It is a survival game. However, you don't want to die from hunger in the endgame stage so they've made this change.
A big technical addition in the patch is support for AMD’s FSR Frame Generation. For compatible cards, this will increase framerate. If you have access to DLSS support, then you can't use them both at the same time but you will be able to choose which works best for you.
