Earlier today, the previously announced Nightingale stress test went live, and the Inflexion Games team has found the test to be going so positively that they have extended it until tonight.

The stress test was previously scheduled for 10AM-2 PM MT/ 12PM-4 PM ET, and things were ready to go, with the team releasing a special tips and tricks to prepare for the stress test devblog this morning. After about two hours of test time, the team announced that the test will be extended until tonight. The new close time is 7PM MT/ 9 PM ET, an extension of five hours and a good sign for the server infrastructure.

On the devblog about the stress test, they reveal the test is designed to reflect what you might encounter after about 10 hours of playtime. You won't find any tutorials or introductory play, and some things will have already been established to get you going quickly. Considering how short of a test was originally planned, this makes sense, and it also prevents everyone from having to get slowly started, particularly in a survival crafting game where learning the skills and collecting all your resources would take a while.

It lets the most people jump right in and get going. If you play at launch, expect  a different experience. Another consideration for the test versus the upcoming Early Access launch, is that keybinds and full controller support are not available in the test but will be available for the launch.

They initially decided to open the playtest to everyone instead of sending invites out in waves. There’s co-op play available along with the usual solo activities, and of course, in a test like this, the ever-present possibility of bugs, lag, or something going wrong. That said, from the long extension and the decisions on a more open test, it seems like the team has gotten off to a good start.

Head to Nightingale for more.
