Nightingale’s big Realms Rebuilt update takes center stage in Inflexion Games’ latest dev update. With the update out next week on September 12th, the new video focuses on the major changes to know about and offers a few new details.
As the update name implies, “rather than just adding content, it is a significant reimagining of Nightingale with refinements and improvements”. You’re still a Realmwalker, Exploring new and unique realms, but in the update, “Storied Realms” and a new progression system will offer some more guidance, as well as unique new realms that are handcrafted for the new campaign. Not only is all of this designed to provide some extra structure, the team also responded to requests for more varied Realms and more things to do, with these handcrafted ones that tie into the brand new campaign.
You will still get to explore, though. Procedurally-generated Realms will remain as “Untamed Realms” and you'll still be free to travel into these, make discoveries, gather resources, and face non-critical encounters. Additionally, all of the procedurally-generated maps will be new. There are also many new POIs, offering more PvE content.
You can also spend lots of time building even more than before, as build limits get substantial increases after the team found ways to optimize and reduce the amount of structure data they needed by over 80%. There will be two categories going forward: number of tile set pieces in a composite structure and overall structures in a particular realm. Additional improvements include eight new pets, increased pet limits, more Charms, and the Glamour Station. Build it and collect Glamour Tokens to let you change item appearances to another item of the same type that you've already unlocked.
With this major update, there will be a progression reset, so everyone will have to create a new character. On their website, the Nightingale team will offer a way to download Your save file and continue to play it an offline mode on a legacy branch that will get no more updates if you choose to
