The regular Wednesday patches for Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen are not so regular, with today’s being delayed again. It sounds like the Pantheon team has a good reason this time: it’s coming with the Unity 6 overhaul that’ll bring a ton of visual and performance changes to the game.
Updates were supposed to come weekly in order to bring regular, incremental improvements to the game, bringing a change here and an addition there. However, given the nature of this particular patch, it sounds like this one’s heftier than usual. The official Discord’s first announcement on the matter states that there were some “last minute issues with shadows” that they needed to address.
“We know everyone is disappointed,” an additional announcement reads. “We are disappointed, too. The Unity 6 is a big change for Pantheon and there is a lot involved. We are working closely with the Unity team to get this rolled out, and we will keep you updated.”
“This is a special case, as far as updates go, and we expect future updates to be easier to implement.”
With this delay, as a sort of apology, the team included a quick reminder of what Unity 6 will bring. A clip from a recent stream by Creative Director Joppa Vash, where he showed off some of the work in progress in Unity itself, explains that some visual effects they’ve been waiting to implement finally show up. Specifically, he’s excited for lighting in spells to make an appearance once these changes go through.
The Unity 6 patch isn't quite ready today. Our apologies for the delay. We are working hard to get it out to you as soon as we can.In the meantime, here's a brief look at what Unity 6 can do with lighting effects on projectiles. pic.twitter.com/3bgYb88HxP
