The First Berserker: Khazan got a brand new gameplay trailer at today’s Xbox showcase, with Nexon’s upcoming hardcore action RPG giving us all a better look at the brutal action we can expect.

The game is based on the Dungeon & Fighter franchise. Developed by Neople and published by Nexon, the game got a previous announcement and a trailer at The Game Awards, but this new trailer expands on the dark fate awaiting those who pick it up when it’s out.

You will become Khazan, the first berserker of the title, and well, it looks like a blood-soaked journey from there on. The trailer shows off its intense, fast-paced combat, and gives some hints as to what lies ahead in Khazan’s journey for revenge. He was hailed as a hero of the Pell Los Empire before being accused of treason and exiled.

The new trailer cuts to the chase pretty quickly, and gets right into the action, interspersed with peeks at solving puzzles, traversing harsh lands, and of course, facing giant bosses and other challenges.

Now, he'll have to survive an onslaught of Imperial forces, enemies, monsters, and harsh environments. He was once regarded as a hero and was a skilled fighter, destined to become the ancestor of all Slayers. With elements that would be familiar to anime (the graphics are just one of these) and RPG fans, he'll have to remember his legendary battle skills, and use them to fight back and complete his quest.

Movement looks pretty fluid, and the devs note that you’ll be able to learn a variety of skills in the process of character progression to suit your playstyle and let Khazan complete his journey.

The First Berserker: Khazan is set to launch on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 5.
