Nexon, Motiga Undergo Round of Layoffs

Nexon, Motiga Undergo Round of Layoffs

Both Nexon America and Motiga have undergone a round of layoffs. Nexon has laid off six representing 1% of its global workforce. Motiga confirmed that fifteen of the company's eighty-two employees had been let go. We have statements from both companies.

From Nexon representatives:

In order to provide enhanced live game support, Nexon America has streamlined its operations and eliminated six positions, representing less than 1% of Nexon's global workforce. Nexon America remains committed to executing its strategy of continuously supporting People, Games and Players as it expands its presence in North America and beyond.

Nexon publishes MapleStory, Mabinogi, Vindictus, Riders of Icarus, and will be publishing Lawbreakers.

From Motiga (via Destructoid) and CEO Chris Chung:

Any kind of layoff is tough, but this was done to reduce our burn rate until we get to Arc launch (for Gigantic) which will happen in a few months.

Motiga is currently working on Gigantic.

We extend our best wishes to those affected and hope that they find new positions quickly.
