Nexon has announced that they will remove PvP from Vindictus on January 23rd. The team shared an update detailing all of the content changes and what to expect.
In an update posted today, “PVP Content Service Termination Scheduled for 1/23”, the team announced an end to PvP content in the action MMORPG. It is exactly what it sounds like, with Arenas, Siege Match, Deathmatch, Sports Day, and Tournament all ending service after the January 23rd maintenance.
With these changes, there will be a number of UI adjustments, the Deathmatch NPC will be gone, and even menu keys will no longer bring up old menus for discontinued content. The PvP buttons will disappear from menus and all your character records from duels and Arenas will become inaccessible from the character menu.
Additionally, the decision to end PvP will mean that certain stories can’t be completed after the removal, so there's time to complete them now if you still want to. Those are: For Honor, Emergency Conscription, Match: Arena, and Sports Day Fruit Fight. The sports Day region itself will be removed too.
Certain items and titles are also affected by the content changes. You will still be able to earn the For Honor story titles, even if you can’t complete the story itself, via the Ancient Title Destiny Box after the 23rd.
There’s no word on if, or how, this might impact other content, but the team did hint at potential content improvements on the way. In December, they opened a Hero+ Mode, added new mechanics, and improved bosses.
“Our sincere gratitude goes out to those who enjoyed and appreciated the PVP content. We will do our best to become a Vindictus team that always provides better contents for our players,” they said.
