Nexon will publish a new MMORPG worldwide, Project T, from Korean developer GRAYGAMES, the companies have announced. It will release on PC and mobile.
The new MMORPG is based on a Korean web novel and webtoon called Overgeared. With more than 1.3 billion views over the past 11 years the work has been published, this will serve as the basis for the game. Overgeared follows Young-woo Shin, who lives an ordinary life until he suddenly gains special powers while playing a medieval-set video game called Satisfy.
As for Project T, Graygames draws inspiration from the virtual reality and content from the game in Overgeared that is the source of Young-woo Shin’s powers. Setting itself apart while also blending medical and fantasy settings, Project T aims to use ideas and inspiration like “Hidden Quest”, “Hidden Class” “Epic” and “Craft System” taken from Overgeared and expand upon it.
We can expect what the team is calling an immersive storyline, a number of original characters, and room for players to have some control in the world. In a press release announcing the game, they emphasize that players will be able to create a world together, potentially founding Nations and of course, potentially going to war, and other activities.
Graygames is a new Korean studio founded last year, and Nexon, is, of course, a specialist in MMORPGs. It will take some time before we know more about what we can expect from Project T, but in announcing a global publishing deal, it seems that Nexon sees a lot of potential.
