New World’s promised deep dive into all things about the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion is here in the latest super-sized Forged in Aeternum. The team breaks down a number of details, from mounts, the new Flail, new expedition, story, progression, gear additions and much more.

The devs go into lots of detail on the expansion (which we got to preview here), and mounts are a huge one. Not only will you be able to use them to travel around Aeternum, you’ll be able to customize them too, and improve your riding skill. The team acknowledges that adding mounts changes the feeling of the world, and is building with that in mind.

The Elysian Wilds is the new zone, and there will be easter eggs related to First Light in the new zone that has replaced it. Expect to face Beast Lords and other new threats, including mammoths and armored dragons, with updated AI. If you stick around in the zone at night, you will also notice some bioluminescence..

Expeditions and mutations get a series of changes, with regular Expeditions now “story mode” and made a bit easier to complete. Mutations will  be available in just three levels. These changes should make these two features more populated and less intimidating. Eden Grove also gets major changes, as it becomes ownable territory with a settlement there. The new territory will be worth a lot, setting up heavy competition.

The new Flail is aimed at those who want a flexible support option, with a tree all about heals and debuffs and another on tanking and survivability. The weapon will have its own set of animations and new abilities.

New ECRs and areas to explore will be different, with The Savage Divide being almost like a zoo, with different creatures in its various areas. New ECR Isle of Zervan will have puzzles to solve and is designed for mounts. This is in addition to all of the new creatures that the team is adding in addition to the mounts and larger wildlife. They include corvids, beetles, sometimes-invisible chameleons, and rats. And when they say corvids, they’re not just talking about your ordinary crows. Some originate when birds and humans that died near one another combine into something new.

There's also story to play through, and we get a preview of that as well, including characters, and how the new threats from Ariana affect the world.

There is so much detailed info about the huge number of changes and additions coming with next month’s expansion, so the full video is worth a watch if you are anticipating this expansion. They also tease the PTR arrival is coming soon, but will be a shorter test than usual.

Head to New World for more.
