Amazon has released Season 4, Eternal Frost for New World today after originally planning its release for yesterday. The rollout has been facing some issues, with the team holding maintenance and making adjustments while they fix any lingering issues, including reports of crashes.
Eternal Frost launched with its new seasonal questline, new and returning characters, new Glacial Tarn expedition, new Artifacts, and reward tracks. Taking time to fix an issue that came up during their final testing on Monday caused the change in dates to today. True, moving the update to this morning did allow for the team to get Eternal Frost up and the servers online, things got a bit dicey fast. Reports of crashing and connection issues arose, and later, “the current issue of servers shutting down” was reported today. Those who were able to get into the new content while it was live couldn’t access the new Soul Trial.
The most recent update announced that New World would be undergoing maintenance for 30 minutes to address all of these simultaneous issues impeding access to the new season. That maintenance was completed and the servers are currently online, though some stray reports of missing items, and even additional crashes are also now coming in.
The game will be going into maintenance for 30 minutes to address server crashing issues and resolve an issue preventing access to the Season 4 Soul Trial. Apologies for the inconvenience and thank you all for your patience.

The New World team, to their credit, has responded quickly and seems to have fixed at least some of the issues so far. Still, while most MMO players know that launches can be rough, the frustration is understandable. If you’ve been looking to get frosty in New World with the start of a new season, keep an eye on their updates as the team sorts things out.
