The New World team has a new community Q&A for June ahead of Season 2, Blood of the Sands, which will be out next week.

This comes in the form of the latest Forged in Aeternum video. While they get questions about upcoming features, including new weapons, and planned changes down the line, the focus is decidedly on Season 2. Asked about development priorities and what metrics are used to figure out what to focus on and when, producer Katy Kaszynski cites industry standards, the team's overall vision for where they want New World to go, and player feedback.

Scot Lane added that sometimes this is affected by which team has extra availability at any given time. If they have some extra capacity on the art team, they might update POIs, but if the engineering team has some room, they might do a different feature.

On the subject of raids, some are wondering whether we will see traditional raids with multiple bosses to clear and trash mobs and different strategies and the answer to that is yes.

But first, “We want to make a good expedition before we make a raid,” Lane says. Referring to the sand wurm Trial on the way, “We want to get some feedback on that as a boss. Once we feel like we are making good raid bosses, we're going to transition to making good full raids”.

We could also see more cover in Outpost Rush. Ranged weapons are the favored type there because of the openness of the mode, so they're looking at that in the future.

David Verfaillie says that New World is trying to move away a little bit from very specific perks, They do want to add a little more fun to PVE and possibly to separate balance between PVE and PVP so that they can do more stuff on the PVE side without upsetting the PVP balance.

There's more on what we can expect, both in the team’s answers on other plans, and some hints and in an accompanying devblog. On crafting professions, they’re not ready to reveal much, since a lot of the changes will be coming later in the year with the expansion, but they did offer some hints.

“Our high-level goal is to reduce RNG and increase the players’ ability to craft what they want. There will be adjustments in cost to craft and throughput to ensure markets aren’t flooded.”
