New World Season 2: Blood of the Sands, will be here in just over a month, on July 6th. Today, the team dives into all things Season 2 rewards, the impact of community feedback, and changes to expect.

We’re going back to Brimstone Sands, and the influence of the Sand Wurm will be felt all over, from emotes to chitin-based designs. They’re looking for a “summer blockbuster feeling” and are going “epic” for this adventure. Including the big Sand Wurm Trial and the Season Trial. Oh, and there’s a new member of the Silver Crows on the way–a bard.

As with the first Season, Fellowship & Fire, there will be a Season Pass.  There are free and premium passes, each with 100 tiers of rewards to play to unlock. One of the major features coming in Season 2 is the arrival of Transmog. One of the rewards to look forward to is Transmog tokens. Among the other reward highlights are Mutator and Expedition Chests, the  Pocket Sand and Worm Dance emotes, Sun-Bleached Armor Set, Briar Rose weapon skins, Desert Prowlers Tools, and more. Expect some useful items like dye packs, coin, Azoth vials, and Marks of Fortune. They’re designed to help you as you progress through the content.

In the latest Forged in Aeternum episode, the team breaks down some of the rewards, what’s new for Blood of the Sands, and how player feedback influenced the seasonal content and rewards. One of the changes to expect in season 2 is more fixed rewards. Both the free and premium passes will be guaranteed ways of getting certain furniture items. The free pass will have the same static drops (no more random furniture chests), and the premium pass will offer schematics for those same pieces.

“The skin concepts leaned heavily on the fantasy of a desert wanderer that might reside within Brimstone Sands or be a part of the Blood of the Sands sect. For the emotes, we like to lean into ideas that are more on the fun side. Doing the worm and throwing some pocket sand both felt like natural fits for the season,” according to lead seasons designer Patrick Smedley.

The Hatchery is the Seasonal Trial. Smedley says that while the Sand Wurm Trial is the challenging one,  where you need a well-organized team that knows what they're doing, this one is a little more forgiving and you should be able to complete it with a group to collect the rewards. These seasonal trials are just that–seasonal–so unless something changes, they’ll come and be gone.
