Amazon's New World, after multiple delays, has finally released today, bringing the MMO set during the waning years of the Age of Exploration finally to gaming's shores. The PvP-centered MMO has gotten players plenty of excited to finally jump into a new MMO, and as such we pose the question: are you planning on playing today?

New World, in case you've been living under a rock the last few years, is an MMORPG from Amazon Games Studios set during the twilight years of the Age of Exploration. Set on the supernatural and mysterious island of Aeternum, players will find themselves looking to uncover the mysteries of the corrputed and other supernatural forces on the island, all the while dealing with the other players around them. The PvP-focused nature of much of the gameplay will see players join up in one of three factions to fight to improve their regions of Aeternum, as well as try to take other regions throughout the map.

New World in its long development has seen multiple alphas, and most recently a closed beta - which vice president of Amazon Games, Christoph Hartmann states saw over one million players jump in ahead of launch.

"More than 1 million players have already set foot in Aeternum during our Beta tests, and today we are thrilled to welcome even more adventurers into New World,” said Christoph Hartmann, vice president of Amazon Games via a press release this morning. “New World’s epic battles, skill-based combat, beautiful setting, and deep crafting and progression make it a game you can really get lost in. And because Aeternum is a living world, created to change and evolve over time, today is only the beginning—we have so much more in store for players.”

To celebrate the launch, Amazon has released a new trailer for New World, which you can check out in the embed below. Are you diving into New World today, even for no other reason than to lock in your name? Let us know how you're enjoying the new MMO in the comments below.
