New World Extends Leaderboards Season Tentative End and Delays Fellowship & Fire Again

New World’s first season, Fellowship & Fire, was originally set for release this Tuesday. Amazon announced that the update would be delayed for some period of time since the team wanted to be sure to launch such a huge update in the rightway and fix the issue that had caused the delay.

While there’s still no word on just why the update was delayed other than “an issue”, there have been a few effective delays so far, since the team announced an extension to the Leaderboards end time and date. The new seasonal update will initiate a new season of everything, including  Leaderboards and rewards, so after Fellowship & Fire itself was delayed the first time, it was only natural to have the Leaderboards end date pushed back the same way.

The first extension was announced with a tentative date of Thursday, March 30th, assuring the community that “this date may change but will coincide with the release of the Fellowship and Fire update”. It makes sense that that date was announced as tentative, since they delayed it again a day later to March 31st. After that, less than 24 hours before this writing, they pushed it back to Sunday, April 2nd.

Today, the team announced another extension.

“Unfortunately we need to delay the end time of Seasonal Leaderboards. New tentative end date for Seasonal Leaderboards will be Tuesday April 4th* We appreciate your continued patience and understanding in this matter.”

They are still making the new date as tentative, and this is understandable. When the update was delayed, the New World team said that they would be working to get everything up ASAP. Some in the community are asking for clearer communication on the issue and criticizing continued postponement announcements that get hopes up but ultimately have “the lack of a clear date”.

Given the scope of launching Seasons and the future of New World, it’s understandable that they want to get this right. Since part of the seasonal model announcement was an emphasis on having reliable, consistent updates, some frustration is understandable

You can keep up with the updates over at New World.
