For those who’ve been looking forward to the chance to test New World: Aeternum’s console beta, you’ll have to wait a little longer for the chance.
After Amazon announced New World: Aeternum, a relaunch of the original game with several changes, new content, and release on console, they announced the console beta. The original console closed beta was supposed to open tomorrow, July 11th and run through July 17th, offering those invited their first taste of New World on console.
Now, the team has announced a two-week delay “to ensure we deliver the best possible Console Closed Beta experience”. The new dates are July 25th, starting at 9 AM PDT through July 31st at 9 AM PDT. In announcing this delay, it seems like the team simply needed more time to shape the beta build and get ready to make those first impressions (even if in a beta build).
The announcement of the change in dates came with no other changes, so it seems like it's just a scheduling shift. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S owners in North America and Europe will still get to test out New World: Aeternum’s content, Including the new player onboarding experience, first time user experience, and open world endgame features. These experiences will include character customization, the ability to explore the zones, try out weapons and otherwise build their characters in order to see how this works.
The beta is a cross-platform, cross-play test, so if you are on Xbox and want to play with your PlayStation 5 buddies, you can do that. The only excluded platform from this phase is PC, but the team promises more testing all around before the October 15th release.
