The New World: Aeternum team has post-launch insights and a brand new roadmap, revealing Seasonal Worlds, themed servers, and much more on the way in Season 7 and beyond.
Season 7 is coming in early 2025. One of the biggest changes is the introduction of Seasonal Worlds. These will be special ruleset servers that will last for the duration of the season. For the first season, the theme is always-on PvP.
We get an introduction to gear you’ll want to craft, taking on the challenge of new resources. That’s not all, because it drops on death. On a PvP server. Oh, and there's also item decay. Getting those resources to craft more will also involve some significant risk. The point of these seasonal servers are to have something new and unique, sometimes with rules that are a bit too out there for the general game, but which people can have fun with.
Season 7 will also bring a new Outpost Rush map preview weekend, with the map releasing later. Upgrades to Mutated Expeditions are coming, including matchmaking for M3 and improved rewards.
Expect daily solo trials to test your skills against challenging bosses, including three new challenges in the season. Expect new artifacts, perks, weapons, and even a new accessory. All of this will come with combat balance updates and returning, improved events.
Along with a brand new deep dive into Season 7, there is a roadmap for things in development and stuff that the team is considering down the line.
Some of the things that are currently in development are upcoming seasonal worlds, improvements to the territory system and crafting, global storage, and the addition of a barber shop. Expect new PVP modes and new mode maps. Invasions mode is in development, to offer more consistently available challenges. Face down many enemies with additional potential tweaks, like more enemies, better rewards, mutations, and more. If you want to hear all of the changes and these new additions they're tossing around, check out the full dev video.
Under consideration are things like new PVE modes, an overhaul to endgame rewards and systems, perhaps new zones or trade skills, and the potential to even include all instanced content in matchmaking. Other potential additions are new raids or procedural Expeditions with extraction, ranked PvP, and standard things like new weapons. This is where the team is looking for feedback, since these are just ideas they’re exploring for now. If any stand out, the Amazon team wants to hear from you.
For now, if you’re on Xbox or PlayStation 5, there’s a console free trial.
