Amazon is looking to reel in some more console players in New World: Aeternum. A new free trial was just announced for Xbox and PlayStation 5 owners.
The trial is available today on each platform's stores. You will need to be an active subscriber on your platform of choice in order to play online, even just for the free trial. According to the announcement, the free trial will let you “enjoy a seamless introduction to the game “. If you like what you see and choose to continue playing after the trial is over, all progress that you make will carry over into the full game if you buy it.
It seems that, with the big launch more than a month behind us, that the team may be looking to shore up the console experience and give people a taste of what the game has to offer.
There are platform-exclusive servers to choose to play on and cross-play servers that anyone can play on. These trials are limited in scope so we’ll think these are likely platform-specific to just get you introduced to Aeternum, its curse, lore, and challenges.

Amazon has continued to release a series of brief videos to introduce you to Aeternum, key characters and places, and some options to get you started.
